Achieving Your Goals
It is easy to become discouraged if you are attempting to enact a plan of self improvement. However, it is important that you not give up. If you set a goal, you can make progress towards that goal until you achieve it. While it may seem difficult or even impossible, you should know this is not really the case. If you are having trouble, however, you can use some special techniques to make any goal easier to achieve. What follows should explain these techniques well enough for you to put them into practice in your own life.
First, you will need to think about your goal. Whatever it is, it probably seems far away and difficult. However, your job is going to be bringing it closer. You can do this by breaking it down into smaller goals. Plan out a series of smaller goals that will, if accomplished in order, bring you to your eventual main goal. Once you have done this, look at the absolute first goal on the list. If that goal looks a little bit more approachable, that is a good sign. If necessary, break that goal down into a list that will bring you to it bit by bit.
Break down your starting goal as many times as necessary in order to make the steps along the way more manageable. If you have a vague goal in the future, it is easy to get stuck, or to put off accomplishing anything for tomorrow, or to claim to be making progress when you are actually making none. If any of these problems sound like something you are facing, you need this system. Focus on accomplishing the very first tiny goal in the list. If it is not something you can accomplish quickly, break it down further.
Using this system, you can make constant, regular progress. Once you accomplish the simple goal that is immediately in front of you, move onto the next one, breaking it down into smaller ones as necessary. Be sure to accomplish small goals regularly, as this will help you to focus and stay on track. Accomplishing your goals will help you to keep your morale high and keep working. This is why it is important to make progress, and then keep track of it and acknowledge it. For this self improvement purpose, a calendar, list, or other prop that you can check things off of can be a great tool.
