Health Q & A’s

Question: I am currently going through menopause and despite having some pretty bad headaches, hot flashes and weight gain, I have not taken any form of Meds as yet. I’m very much into natural, alternative remedies and although a lot of my girlfriends take Hormone Replacement pills, I really want to avoid them. I talked to my naturopath about herbal remedies and she suggested Estrotone. One thing I was too embarrassed to ask her though, is does it help with sexual function, in particular vaginal dryness?

Estrotone

Answer: Estrotone is an all-natural alternative to the somewhat-risky Hormone Replacement Treatments, once favored by both doctors and menopausal women. Although they worked well in helping get through menopause –which can be up to six years for some – studies have shown a link between the treatment and increased risk of breast and cervical cancers. By taking a herbal preparation, not only are the side effects reduced, but they are also available over-the counter, making prescriptions not necessary. That is not to say that all herbal ingredients are 100% safe or effective, although it has been proved that certain substances such as Black Cohosh root do relieve the more common symptoms of pre and post menopause, in particular hot flashes, irritability and fatigue.

In addition to these symptoms, the hormonal imbalance brought on by menopause can result in many women experiencing a noticeable decrease in their sex drive, or even painful sex due to vaginal dryness. This New Chapter-manufactured brand not only helps deal with hormonal imbalance but also maintains the body’s fluids, particularly in this area.

A product such as Estrotone, would be more suitable for anyone who suffers from mild symptoms of menopause and should really be considered as more of an added supplement, than powerful menopausal meds.

With the vast array of menopausal symptom relief products available today, many are quite effective in reducing those symptoms that plague women. It is important to use these products according to all the guidelines that come with the product in order to achieve maximum results. If you do shop for a menopausal symptom relief product in a health store, pharmacy or on the internet, you’ll often find many products do not contain the quality and/or quantity of necessary ingredients to effectively minimize menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings or weight gain. You should research your product of choice prior to purchase to find the best, most potent brand for your needs.

Natural treatment options can provide options for menopausal women so they can reduce menopausal symptoms such as weight gain, hot flashes/flushes, night sweats, decreased libido and mood swings. Finding the right product can be a difficult process considering the vast array of products and ingredients available. A quality menopause relief product should contain clinically proven ingredients that will help reduce menopausal weight gain and symptoms like hot flashes, hot flushes and night sweats, decreased libido while promoting hormonal balance. Below you'll find some of the most effective products that will help you resume living your life instead of merely enduring it.

Tips on Entering Smoothly into Menopause

  • Exercise regularly. It raises the metabolism, helps with depression and anxiety and controls weight. Any weight bearing exercise will help to maintain a healthy bone calcium content and reduce the risk of osteoporosis
  • Eat a diet that is rich in vegetables, fruits and essential fatty acids. Cold water fish, including salmon, mackerel, sardines, tuna and herring, are all good sources. Essential fatty acids help to support the nervous system which may be important for memory and brain function. Additionally they act as anti-inflammatories and maintain healthy skin. Try to include soy in the diet too as it supports estrogen regulation in the system.
  • Nuts and seeds should be added to the diet as a good source of fiber, protein and fatty acids. Flax seeds in particular are an important source of healthy anti-inflammatory fats that also regulate estrogen
  • Avoid high levels of sugar, alcohol, caffeine and over-processed foods. Quitting smoking will help reduce hot flashes and night sweats
  • Balance in the body helps to keep it healthy. Make sure to nurture your mind to keep it quick, your body to maintain physical well-being and your spiritual and emotional life to remain positive and healthy
