Home Skin Care – Remedies You Can Afford
For those that strive to have smooth, soft, kissable skin, the pursuit of the right products and techniques is endless. If you’ve been shopping for soaps, lotions, blemish removers, or other skin care products lately, and been astounded at how much you have to pay to get your hands on a quality product, you might be thinking about just giving up and becoming a hermit. Between maintenance products and cosmetics, you’re unlikely to have money for food and transportation! To help you maintain the look and healthy skin that you want, while still allowing you some extra money for the things you need, here are some home skin care remedies that are cheap but effective.
The products that you’re likely to end up buying over and over again are an exfoliant, which is also referred to as a microdermabrasion product. To have healthy skin that looks fresh and young, it’s important to regularly slough off the dead skin cells that make your skin look dull and lead to clogged pores and breakouts. If you’re buying high quality exfoliants that won’t irritate your skin or cause your face to try out, you’re probably looking at upwards of eight dollars a pop.
Why not try making your own gentle exfoliating product instead? All you have to do is mix a tablespoon baking soda with some warm water. Splash some moderately hot water over your skin to open up the pores. The, using your hands or a soft wash cloth, rub the baking soda mixture gently on your skin in a circular motion. The baking soda will kill germs that might be living on your face, while removing oils and dead skin cells at the same time. After about a minute of massaging, rinse your face with warm water and pat dry. Repeat this process every other day.
Another common problem that many people complain about is dealing with blemishes. Although your mom probably told you that the pimples would go away once you became an adult, there are some skin types that are still prone to having breakouts, even later in life. If you’ve been struggling with over the counter treatments that simply aren’t effective, try this home remedy instead. If you can, let pimples heal by themselves, but if you need a solution fast, mix a teaspoon of baking soda with a small amount of honey and lemon juice to make a paste. Dab the paste on the pimple and cover with a band aid over night. Wash your face as normal in the morning.
