Play Ball – Baseball Can Liven Up Your Exercise Regimen
If you’re bored with your current exercise regimen, you probably just need to shake things up a bit. This can be accomplished by adding a dash of fun to your exercise routine. It can be a lot more fun training your body if you’re training for something; say, an informal baseball or softball league. When spring training hits, baseball fever sweeps over many towns and then it’s simply a matter of finding a league and a team that suits your playing level. This could give you added motivation to train on your off days and inject some much-needed fun in your weekly exercise routine as well.
Many cities have community baseball programs that administrate leagues. For a set fee per team, you can play with a real umpire and even have a shot at the league title. You can form your own team with friends and co-workers or you can go in and ask to be assigned to a team. If you like to organize big groups and know enough people, then you may even be able to form your own private league. You’d need to find a venue and set a price to participate, but if you know enough people, it’s certainly doable.
But before you start playing, make sure that you and your equipment are in good playing condition. Make sure that you have all the necessary equipment: gloves, bats, cleats. And make sure that you’re in good enough health to play. You may want to consult a physician before taking on this new sport. And if you want to brush up on your technique, many community colleges and community centers offer sports workshops to help amateurs tighten up their form and improve their game. You can also take the time before your league begins to take in a few team practices. Bonding with your team is one of the most fun parts of playing baseball, and you wouldn’t want to miss out on that.
Even if you don’t feel comfortable playing in a league, you can still enjoy baseball in a lighter form. Hit up your local batting cages every once in a while. Or gather a bunch of your friends to play Over the Line: only six people are needed to play. No matter what your situation, you can find a way to work this fun sport into your exercise regimen. All that’s left to say now is: Play ball!
