Practical Beauty – Products You Can Make At Home

Many people like to say that success is made up of ninety-nine percent perspiration and one percent inspiration, meaning that hard work and motivation are more important to achieving your goals than coming up with a brilliant idea and simply shooting to the top. A similar viewpoint is popular when it comes to achieving lasting, natural beauty. Achieving the appearance that you’ve always wanted is about ninety-nine percent relaxation and one percent preparation. This means that if you are calm and content inside, this will reflect in your outer beauty. Of course, a little help never hurt, so here are some soothing beauty products you can make at home.

Parents give kids baths all the time, not only to get them clean, but also to calm them down and prepare them for bed. You can make a simple relaxing bath soak with a few simple ingredients you probably have lying around the house. Fill the tub with hot water, and then add your favorite combination of the following, one cup powdered oats, two cups Dead Sea salt, one cup Epsom salt, three tablespoons real vanilla extract, and two tablespoons vegetable oil such as olive oil or coconut oil.

Are you tired of trying price moisturizers and lotions that leave your skin feeling greasy and heavy, or even worse, seem to soak into your skin instantly and need to be replenished over and over again throughout the day? Try this simple remedy that will cost you only a few cents, and will feed your skin cells, leaving you soft for days at a time. Take a small towel and soak it in hot water for a few minutes. Ring out and place over the area that you wish to soften for a few minutes. Cover the area in a natural vegetable oil like extra-virgin olive oil, sunflower oil or coconut oil, and cover with the hot towel again for 10 minutes. Wash the excess oil off in the shower.

So now you’ve got soft, clean skin and you’re feeling relaxed, are you ready for a little pampering? Your hands serve you well all day, so why not treat them to a little soothing as well? Wash your hands with a natural soap and hot water. Then rub a vegetable oil in and around your cuticles and fingertips. Wash with warm water when you’re done.
